We started our adventure on the cliff walk in Newport, Rhode Island. (strike that) Our adventure began with our drive from New Jersey to Rhode Island, after work on a Thursday evening. The traffic through NYC was less than troublesome, which was a surprise. Yay, we were off to a good start. It took just about four hours to reach our destination. We do love a road trip. We arrived in Newport late, just before midnight.
The next morning, we were awake early. Knowing we were going to do a lot of walking, we fueled up on yummy coffee and a healthy breakfast rich with protein. We were off to explore the Newport Cliff Walk. For my love of fences and gates, I was drawn to the locks which are beginning to sprinkle the cliff walk fences like tiny remnants of the memories of one's hopes and loves, tender yet strong.
The next day we explored the beaches along Ocean Drive in Newport. This was well worth the stop. We took off our shoes and enjoyed some 'Earthing' time. It is so healthy for our bodies to connect with the Earth's energy, the foundation on which we live and travel. Feeling the Earth's dirt, sand, rocks, and grit under foot is a day changer. We try to work some Earthing time in as often as possible. We have noticed when we remain disconnected, retain the shoe-barrier, we feel fatigued. Who doesn't love to feel childlike again, barefoot, carefree, and energized? We sure do.
The clear, ocean water lapped the beautiful rock formations, one splash after another. It was an amazing sight and sound.
The fences are so nice, in so many ways. From the beaches to the residential homes, the fences in Newport, Rhode Island are a feast for the eye!
A day well spent, enjoyed, and so very much appreciated.
Simple, but yet so enriching.
I hope you get outside today and take off your shoes! There's more to wiggling your toes in the grass, sand, dirt or on the rocks than you may ever expect!
